I don’t read comics but when I was introduced to Dilbert’s comics by Scott Adams it all changed. The guy makes a lot of sense and disguises them in the form of jokes. His blog – The Dilbert Blog is awesome. You may be wondering the title to this post says ‘Akademi Fantasia Untuk PM’ … yes yes Im getting to it… one of his blog posts talks about how to solve problems in the United States. Where he has proposed a new reality show that pits think tanks against one another, with the public getting to vote for the policies they like. Another favourite blogger of mine (he is not a comic artist) Amit Varma has proposed a similar solution for Indian politics his solution is to have a reality political game show … Kaun Banega Lok Sabha MP? (Who Wants to Be A Member of the Parliament?) where people “should be allowed to vote via SMS and phone calls. The revenues thus generated can go straight into the government’s coffers, and taxes can be abolished.“
Then I was thinking about Malaysian politics… it occured to me that Mr. Mawi could be the next Prime Minister of Malaysia if there was a ‘Akademi Fantasia Untuk Perdana Menteri’ or ‘So you think you can be a PM?’ and he might probably win uncontested which translates to saving of public money. Malaysian economy will grow, how you ask me? Think of it… people will have more money which means more spending and more jobs will be generated because of it. Which would also mean there will be ‘PM’s Raya Concerts’ instead of ‘PM’s Raya Open house’ or even better PM’s raya open house with live performance by the PM !!
